How did my group project go?

Well it went well considering the fact that 2 members left on the bases that we were moving at a slow pace. I have to admit, in the first 3 weeks of this project my group was moving extremely slow. We did not have a solid planning as to how the animation would play out. So we all suggested in coming up with ideas whether it be a storyboard or a short ruff animation to get the pre-production stages out the way. In the fourth week, one of our member's which was Ben, came up with a great idea so we followed his direction to what the animation should be. Ben acted like a proper director so much so, that when i had thought i had done a good job on the scenes he assigned to me, he asked me to change or modify it a bit more. He did not just accept it like that, he knew what he wanted and what i came up with was not what he had envisioned. So after hearing his responses, i knew i will be hearing the same within a professional animation company so i never took it personal.

The programme i had used on this was adobe after effects. The first time i saw this beast of a software, i nearly panicked because the inter-face looked kind of complicated. But after watching Mike's tutorial as to how we should construct our project within this software, my fear level went down and now confidence crept in and i got accustom to it within 5 weeks. One of the tools which i found really interesting was the puppet tool which saved me alot of time. If i hadn't of used the puppet tool, i would of had to draw out frame by frame of the animation which would of taken me alot more longer.

The end result is ok.. Its not great and it isn't rubbish but it is ok on the level that we are currently on.

These sound animation videos gave me a clear understanding of what this brief really was. This will help me to formulate my own scenes for my animation. I'm hoping i could do the scenes which are assigned to me justice, so i'm going to try my best.

This was the ending title for what i had done for the group stating who we are.

This is the sky background for the animation.

These pictures are designs for the animation which i had done in photoshop. You will see the end result of it in our final animation because the file was far too big to upload on this. But its going to be compressed when we all hand in our scene clips for the collection for our overall animation.

This will be in the final animation for my one of my scenes.

NOT IN THE FINAL PIECE

This piece was rejected because our director did not like the way of the movement of the Moon's clarinet when assigning to the tempo of the instrumental.. So this scene what i first did will not be in the end product.

Final piece for one of my scenes

This was a second attempt at this scene that i've presented to my director and he prefers this one over the one i did before.. Our director said, the movement of the moon's clarinet works in harmony with the tempo of the song. So this will be in the end result of one of my scene in the animation.
NOT IN THE FINAL PIECE

This was a front view of the car chase which yet again, got rejected because it wasn't the directors overall goal for the animation. This was a ruff animation just to get a feedback from our group director.. I just wanted to know whether or not if he thought my animation was worthy to be in the end result before i added in the sound. And that is why there is no sound. This will not be in the final piece.
NOT IN THE FINAL PIECE

This was a side perspective of the car chase which got cancelled out, because it was not what our director had envisioned. Before i had added in sound, i wanted to know whether or not if our group director envisioned the animation that i had done.. This animation was really a ruff draft and that is why no music was incorporated into it because i wanted to hear the director's feedback.

NOT IN THE FINAL PIECE

This was an intro for our animation.. Yet again, this got dismissed because it never went with the vision for our story.. The warp motion that you see the building doing was suppose to be assigned with the beat of the instrumental that kicked it at that time.

NOT IN THE FINAL PIECE

This was in the second week for bringing forth ideas that each individual within our group had.. This was one my ideas that i brought forth but later got rejected because it didn’t fit the vision of what the theme for our animation was. This short video clip is about the transition of a 1930’s gangster theme.. I gave it the effect as though it was moving through space, like a sense of time had gone past.. We hadn't come up with the right music yet so we were just pitching our ideas across and this was mine. This is not in the final animation.

NOT IN THE FINAL PIECE

These are snap shots of a 10 second animation which i did for the start of our story.. Basically what this scene is trying to convey is the fact that he has seen his beloved within the gaze of his eyes and tries to get to her, but gets interrupted by dogs which chases him off.. He then has to outwit the dogs and get back to his women. This will not be added into the final animation but an idea that i came up with which later got rejected.. This was the stage before we all came to the decision to use the right music to our animation.
